Tickled pink?

Her first film, Hastey Hastey with Jimmy Sheirgill didn���t have her laughing all the way to the bank, but it sure got Monishka Gupta noticed.
The lissome lass from Lucknow is getting ready to don the greasepaint again. She has been signed on by Subhash Singh for a romantic film inspired by a Hollywood rom-com. ���I wanted a fresh face and she���s perfect as the leading lady.She plays a rich girl who runs away from home and has a whole band of people sent after her by her dad. The film will be shot in Hong Kong and Singapore and will go on the floors in April-May. We are considering Abbas-Mustan���s chief assistant Pramod Dubey or Vipul Shah���s chief assistant Jayesh Shah to direct it,��� Singh says. Also on the cards, is a film directed by Neeraj Pathak. The plot, which is a love story, pivots around her. ���I have a glamorous role to play in it, and shooting will begin in March.
That���s all I can divulge now,��� she says. Neeraj confirms it, adding that the paperwork will be completed next week. Her next project comes from Sailesh Singh���s stable, and the romantic film will see her as the leading lady. The buzz is that Anil Senior could go behind the camera for the project.
���I guess it was just tough luck that Hastey Hastey didn���t do well,��� says Monishka, who���s keeping her fingers crossed. But, make no mistake, she���s not just another pretty face on the block. This 20-something is a trained dancer and has also done theatre back home in Lucknow. ���I was always interested in dancing and acting. And even though I am trained in folk dance, I am equally comfortable with all forms of dance. My stint in modelling also helped me get accustomed to the camera.���
So, how is Mumbai treating this youngster? ���Well, the city isn���t new to me. I used to keep coming here and it feels like home. Right now, I���m staying here with my mother who���s come down from Lucknow to keep me company,��� she smiles. Well, we sure hope 2009 brings many more reasons for this glam gal to smile.
